We have two new programs for Kindergarten- 1st grade students. Lora Meredith has five openings for violin students, and Charlie Crofoot has five openings for guitar students. Please call the academy to reserve a spot for your child.
We sell musical accessories. We have the basics for your band student including a variety of reeds for single and double reeded instruments, oil for brass instruments, neck straps, and cleaning kits.
We also sell strings for guitar, electric bass, and violin.
We can do special orders. Normally we can have the item to you in a week, but we do require 100% deposit for special orders.
All items are priced at manufacturer's suggested retail price. We don't gouge our customers.
Rawlins Music Academy Staff
Rock Star Instructor
David Livingston- David, who has lived in Mexico, Hawaii, Guatemala, Puerto Rico, and Saudi Arabia, can teach guitar, piano, drums, voice, harmonica, and ukulele. David is a 4th grade teacher at Rawlins Elementary School.
Piano Instuctors Melissa Gilbert- has a master's degree in piano performance from the University of Montana. Melissa has many years of teaching experience and knows how to motivate a student whose progress is stalled.
Barb Ramsey- has been an elementary school music instructor for 28 years. She has been playing the piano for 57 years, and enjoys reading and knitting. Barb is a graduate of the University of Wyoming.
Gail Lorick- believes there is a correlation between music and computers in that they both allow a person to be creative and precise. She has been playing the piano for 36 years, and teaching piano for seven. Gail has two pet parakeets- Jimmie and Mac.
Charlie Crofoot- while Charlie began playing at the age of 9 years old, it wasn't until he was 13 that he played professionally. He has toured with country, rock, blues, and folk groups from California to Massachusetts. He is currently learning classical guitar.
Violin Instructor Lora Meredith- is from Colorado where she studied violin from Julliard trained instructor, Mary Carlson and has 10+ years orchestral experience in violin. She also studied piano from an early age, winning a scholarship to the Aspen Music Festival under Antoinette Perry. Additionally, she studied harp from Dr. Kathy Moore at the University of Northern Colorado where she attended school. She currently lives in Rock Springs, Wyoming where she teaches Suzuki violin curriculum and is a member of Suzuki Association of America.
Della Smith- a member of the National Flute Association, has been playing the flute for 42 years and teaching for 20 years. Della is a member of the chamber trio, Interlude. She considers the recorder to be the perfect instrument for beginning musicians. When not playing she enjoys reading, old movies, and riding motorcycles with her husband.
Judy Tigner- has played in a variety of ensembles from college marching bands to community symphony orchestras to classical trios. Judy loves cats, and it a founding member of JECC.
Stephanie Owens- is a Wyoming native that has played the trombone since 7th grade. Stephanie has taught 5th grade in public schools. She buys large quanitities of carrots for her pet rabbit, Daisy.
Kress Hembree- had her first percussion lesson in 1959, and she has been drumming ever since. Her specialty is reading percussion music, and she emphatically believes that percussion is not 'just banging'.
Stephanie Owens- as a veteran business owner of Owens Originals, Stephanie keeps things running smoothly and consistently at RMA. She is also a trombonist in Jubilante.
